Let’s talk about Empowerment and Self-Love with Markisha!

I would like to introduce you all to Markisha Bosley! She is the founder of Ladies 1st Empowerment. She is also a Certified Life Coach. Recently, I received the opportunity to interview her! Check it out below!

Where are you from?

I am a native of Plaquemine, LA, currently residing in Beaumont, TX. I am the Founder of Ladies 1st Empowerment, which is a positive platform encouraging women to enable self-love as a priority. I am also a Certified Life coach, and I help women move from the unknowing to complete self-awareness.

What’s the inspiration or story behind why you started Ladies 1st Empowerment? Also, what does it entail?

Ladies 1st Empowerment strives for women to elevate in mindfulness and self-care. Years ago, I would tell my friends that I wanted to start a women’s empowerment group, but I didn’t know how to go about doing it. Of course, once you get an idea, you start to research. After finding different organizations and realizing they were doing most of the things I thought of, I went for it.

When I started Ladies 1st Empowerment, it was during a time when I didn’t like the things that I saw women accepting. This was based on my past experiences and after working on myself. There were too many reminders; I knew how I felt when I was dealing with similar issues. It made me say, “Oh no, something has to be done. She doesn’t realize her worth.” That’s when the planning began. The first event was held in January of 2019. Ladies 1st Empowerment was created so that women can gather and grow together as a whole. I wanted women to understand that they’re not alone. Most importantly, I wanted women to understand the value of self-love. My goal was to help women gain a positive mindset.

Once you are in a different environment and around positive people, that energy is transferred. The events were held to give women the resources they needed in terms of health and wellness, purchasing a home, and physical self-care. Sometimes it was just a positive day out, which all took place in a sisterhood manner.

I see that self-love is imperative to you, which is amazing and necessary. Tell us more about that and the self-love consultation that you offer.

With self-love, you must first love yourself before you can love anyone else properly. Once you love yourself and understand your worth, it’s hard to come back from that. The things you once tolerated that were not beneficial to your overall well-being are behind you.

The self-love consultation is for the woman who needs awareness. That awareness may be her confidence, her vision, or her goals, or she may simply need reassurance.

The consultation is where we briefly discuss the changes that need to be made. After the discussion, we get into the thick of things, and a plan is uniquely created for that individual to accomplish what was discussed during the consultation.

What is something you feel that women should be more aware of?

I feel that women should be more aware of themselves. Self-awareness allows you to understand your emotions, your strengths, your weaknesses, your likes, and your dislikes. Women who are aware already know the power that is within. We are a force once we come together, but a group of women who are aware is an army.

When you’re not busy working, how are you practicing self-care and pouring into yourself?

I practice self-care in several different ways. I focus on learning more, so I chime in on virtual workshops as well as read books in alignment with my lifestyle. I also try to fit in physical self-care such as massages, exercise, and salon visits, which feel like therapy to me. My favorite thing to do is to attend events such as panels, empowerment brunches, retreats, or conferences to constantly network with other women.
